Is God calling you to a life of service in world missions?
Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
Was this double talk that Jesus was giving to His disciples in Matthew 10:39, or was it a very important principle for faith and life? Well, we know it couldn’t be the former, because Jesus never spoke double talk to anyone. He only spoke words which were intended to be taken into the very being of His listeners and consumed like morsels of bread. So, that only leaves us with one option…this statement, which Jesus gave towards the conclusion of His instructions to His 12 disciples just before He sent them out to do the work to which he had called them, was intended to be a governing principle for their lives. And, I believe, it is in this principle that we can find joy, purpose, and fulfillment in our lives today.
Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:24-25.
The economy of Jesus has different principles of profits and losses than does that of the world. The Apostle Paul understood this type of divine economics when he penned the following words of testimony towards the end of his life: Whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ. Philippians 3:7-8
Now we are getting somewhere…Paul understood an investment principle that can’t be learned on Wall Street. It has to do with dividends that can never be taken away through the ebb and tide of bear and bull markets, because these gains are recorded in God’s ledger in indelible ink! And, they have to do with the only thing that will be visible and still standing after all else vanishes…the souls of people–the souls of people who are won for all eternity, because of a faithful disciple who willingly lays his or her life down so that another can be lifted up.
So, do you want to get in on some real gains in a day when the NYSE can only promise losses? Lose your life and then you will find it. Be courageous, do not fear, step out of your comfort zone, go for the investments that will never fail…the true blue chippers of lives that can be harvested into the Kingdom of God’s Son. Lives that once were dead but now have the opportunity for real life. Life the way it was meant to be lived, because of your willingness to die to self and give yourself away.
First Love is looking for people who have the courage to stand for Christ despite the perilous times that we find ourselves in. We are looking for men and women who are willing to invest that which is most precious to them…their very lives! Are you interested?

Priorities
At First Love we seek to “flesh out” the passion of Christ before a lost and dying world. In our ministries we have deliberately chosen to major on those whom the world might consider to be the minors. And in that regard... our priority is to invest our greatest resources and energies on the least, because we recognize that whenever we reach out to the least of these, we do it for Jesus.
I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did for me...Jesus.
